After spending some time in trying to reconstruct old armour, we noticed that there was also specific ways of using those weapons and equipment instead of the movies hack and slash -style. These once existing martial arts seemed to influence on how armour and weapons were made and evolved, so it looked essential to incorporate also practicing martial arts into guild’s curriculum. Later on, after having made some more usable equipment and training with them, other people were also interested in seeing our achievements. This was the beginning of our guild’s third main area, showfighting. This has nowdays moved more and more in the direction of living history because our main drivers have been always authenticity and functionality. Our guild doesn’t participate in fantasy- or living role playing, nor does we arrange or participate in competitive sports, although some of our members may choose to do so as individuals. WSK is a registered association and functions the way required by the law in Finland.
